ABOUT
BIO

Marju Must is an Estonian artist born in Tallinn, Estonia, and currently lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. She graduated from Tartu Art College, Estonia, in the painting and painting restoration with a BA degree in 2017. She completed her thesis on the practical restoration and conservation work of Finnish artist Kaapo Rissala's transferred wall painting during her exchange semester at Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences in Kouvola, Finland. In 2011 she graduated from Euroacademy with a BA degree in interior architecture. Marju´s art reflects her interest in human nature and emotions. Her current primary focus is on the style of juxtaposing elements of reality with surrealism. Both, depicting a visual incentive and an emotion revived on the canvas are important. Her earlier years of works are more focused on depicting details in realism and developing technical skills, while her latest work has transformed into expressing emotional states in the freer form of paint, its textures, and layers. Marju’s artwork has been shown in several exhibitions in Estonia. She has been participating in joint exhibitions since 2012. Her first solo exhibition took place at Võru Town Gallery in Võru, Estonia, where she illustrated poems with paintings. She has illustrated and had exhibitions about the children’s book “Story Cellar” in Saare Country Central Library and Orissaare Library, Estonia. Her first participation in an abroad exhibition took place in an online form in Krakow, Poland 2021.
